Man dead, another critically injured after hit-and-run crash in Avondale

2 seriously injured in crash in Avondale

A man died, and another was critically injured after a hit-and-run crash in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood on Friday morning.

Chicago police said aToyota RAV4 drove through a traffic signal and hit a Toyota Prius in the 3500 block of North Elston Avenue. Video from the scene showed the two heavily damaged cars in the intersection. 

Police said the passenger of the Prius, a 25-year-old male, was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he died. 

The driver of the Prius, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Illinois Masonic in critical condition. 

The driver of the RAV4 ran away from the scene. 

Police are investigating.
