16-Year-Old Girl Shot While Riding In Car On Near West Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 16-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in the face while in a car on Chicago's Near West Side.

The girl was a passenger in a car in the 200 block of South Ashland Avenue when shots rang out around 2:45 a.m., according to Chicago police.

Neither she nor the other people in the car saw the shooter or know where the shots came from.

She was dropped off at Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

No one is in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
