Tenth Case Of Zika Virus Confirmed In Illinois

(CBS) -- A tenth case of Zika virus has been confirmed in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Public Health says this latest Zika case is a female who is not pregnant.

As has been widely reported, the Zika virus has been linked to infants with microcephaly.

Two of the cases previously reported in Illinois are in pregnant women. As of now, there are eight cases of Zika in females and two in males in Illinois.

The health department says the patient with this tenth case of Zika had traveled to Haiti. A total of four of the 10 cases had traveled to Haiti. Other cases were connected to travel to Honduras, Colombia, El Salvador, Barbados, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands.
