10 Students Hospitalized After School Bus Crash In Montgomery

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Ten students were taken to the hospital Friday morning, after an school bus was involved in a traffic accident with a car in southwest suburban Montgomery.

The crash happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Orchard Road and Caterpillar Drive in Montgomery.

The school bus ended up off the road in a field. The car apparently hit a traffic light pole, and was severely damaged in the crash.

Brian Graves, spokesman for Oswego Community Unit School District 308 confirmed a school bus for Boulder Hill Elementary School in Montgomery was involved in the crash.

Thirty-one students were on the bus at the time. Ten were taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment and evaluation, although their injuries were not considered life-threatening. The other 21 students were picked up by another bus and taken to school.

According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, at least one other person was taken to the hospital, likely the driver of the car.
