10 Arrested For Using Stolen Credit Cards To Post Bail

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Ten people have been arrested in LaPorte County, Indiana, in a scheme to use stolen credit cards to post bail.

LaPorte County Sheriff's Captain Michael Kellems said seven inmates posted bail illegally, because they used credit cards that were stolen.

"They were using some people on the outside to get the credit card information to people on the inside who would use that, in turn, to post bond; and the bonds ranged anywhere from $750 to $15,000," he said.

Kellems said all seven inmates have been re-arrested.

According to Kellems, five credit cards were stolen. They allegedly were procured by a woman who took credit card information from unsuspecting customers at the place where she worked. A photo on the woman's Facebook page shows her working at a hotel.
