1 Killed, 13 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed and at least 13 other people were wounded in shootings on Chicago's South and West sides Wednesday.

A man was killed and a woman was wounded in an Auburn Gresham neighborhood shooting early Wednesday on the South Side.

The pair were sitting on a porch about 12:35 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Ada when a male walked out of a gangway nearby and fired shots in their directions, according to Chicago Police.

Stanley Boston, 35, was shot in the neck and foot, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 1:22 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.

The woman, 22, suffered a graze wound to the foot and was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

Most recently, a 16-year-old boy was critically wounded in a Little Village shooting on the Southwest Side.

The boy was walking in the street in the 2300 block of South Albany about 10:45 p.m. when someone shot him twice in the abdomen and once in the left arm, according to police. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Earlier Wednesday night, a man was wounded in a Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood shooting. The 23-year-old was walking in the 7100 block of South Vincennes at 8:19 p.m. when he was struck by gunfire, police said. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

An hour earlier, another man was shot in the same neighborhood. The 23-year-old was shot at 7:22 p.m. in the 7300 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, according to police. He was shot in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the right side in the 7100 block of South Eberhart in Greater Grand Crossing about 4:40 p.m., police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A 29-year-old was in "an altercation over a parking spot" in the 4300 block of West West End about 2:55 p.m. when he was shot in the hip, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Four people were wounded in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. Shots were fired by three people in a light-colored vehicle in the 3100 block of West Warren at 1:07 p.m., according to police.

A 41-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the leg and torso and a 47-year-old man who was shot in the right arm and both thighs were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized, police said. A 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right foot and a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left foot were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were also stabilized.

A 27-year-old man was shot several times in the 600 block of South St. Louis in the East Garfield Park about 11:50 a.m., police said. He was shot in the torso and also suffered a graze wound to the face, police said. He was being treated at the scene and his condition wasn't immediately known.

A man was shot early Wednesday in the Burnside neighborhood on the South Side. The 23-year-old was shot in the leg about 6:10 a.m. in the 700 block of East 91st Street, according to police. He then ran to the 9100 block of South Cottage Grove, where authorities were called. He was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A man was taken into custody after he shot a woman during a robbery at a gas station early Wednesday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. At 4:07 a.m., the 55-year-old woman was at a gas station in the 600 block of South Independence when a man walked up, pulled out a handgun and announced a robbery, according to police.

The woman was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The man tried to run away after the shooting, but a Chicago Police sergeant nearby spotted the suspect as he was fleeing and subsequently apprehended him. A weapon was recovered.

The man, 38, was taken into custody and charges against him were pending Wednesday night.
