1 Killed, 1 Injured In Pilsen Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting on the city's Pilsen neighborhood Friday night.

The two men were shot about 10:30 p.m. while they were traveling westbound in a vehicle in the 1800 block of West 19th Street, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

One man, 22, was originally taken to University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System, but he was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Alfaro said.

He died there about five hours later, authorities said. His name was not immediately released.

The other man, 28, was taken to University of Illinois Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm, Alfaro added.

The shooting is thought to be gang-related, Alfaro said. No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
