1 injured in house fire in Morgan Park

Fire guts home in Morgan Park; 1 injured

One person was injured as Chicago firefighters battled frigid temperatures to put out a house fire Monday morning in the Morgan Park neighborhood.

The fire started around 10:45 a.m. in a single-story home near 111th Place and Throop Street.

Due to the extreme cold salt was used to help stop ice from forming as firefighters doused the flames.

One person was rescued from the home and taken to the hospital. Their condition was not immediately available.
