Truck Driver Dead In Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- A truck driver was killed Sunday evening in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer truck, a pickup truck, and a car near Plainfield.

The crash happened on Illinois Route 126 and Ridge Road in Kendall County, according to Illinois State Police said.

Illinois State Police said a Peterbilt semi-trailer truck was headed south on Route 126 when its driver ran the red light at Ridge Road. It slammed into a Dodge Dakota that was headed east on Ridge Road.

The truck also rolled into a Nissan Sentra that was stopped at the red light on northbound Route 126 at Ridge Road.

The accident caused serious injuries to the driver and passenger in the Dodge and leaving the truck driver dead, Illinois State Police said.

Following the crash, Ridge Road was shut down between Wheeler Road and Route 126, state police said.

Illinois State Police continued to investigate the crash late Sunday night.
