1 Dead, 2 Wounded In South Deering Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting in the South Deering neighborhood Tuesday night.

Two men, ages 18 and 19, and a 17-year-old girl were standing outside in the 9900 block of South Calhoun Avenue about 10:15 p.m. when they heard shots, felt pain and realized they'd been hit, police News Affairs Ronald Gaines said.

Dorval Jenkins, 19, of the 9700 block of South Calhoun, was shot multiple times and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The other man was shot in the arm and the girl was shot in the leg, Gaines said. Both were taken to Trinity Hospital, where their conditions had stabilized.

All three had gang affiliations, Gaines said.
