1 Dead, 2 Wounded In North Lawndale Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is dead after a shooting Thursday afternoon that also wounded two others in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The three were in a vehicle in the 1600 block of South St. Louis Avenue at 3:07 p.m. when three male shooters fired in their direction, police said. The shooters then left the scene.

The three were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Demario Collins, 19, was shot in the head, arm and shoulder and was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai, authorities said.

A 19-year-old woman was in good condition with a gunshot wound to her buttocks, and a 21-year-old man was also listed in good condition with a gunshot wound to the hand.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
