1 Dead, 1 Critically Wounded In Washington Park Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and another was critically wounded in a Washington Park neighborhood shooting on the South Side early Saturday.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 1:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue found two men, ages 18 and 20, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were unresponsive in an alley, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Brian Weekly, 18, of the 1400 block of West 79th Street, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The 20-year-old was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, police said.

At least 20 people, including family and friends, were gathered on the corner of 56th Street and Wabash as police investigated the scene.
