Zo & Bertrand: Could Jordan Reed Deal Affect Gronk?

BOSTON (CBS) -- Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed received a big-time raise on Thursday morning. Reports are that the fourth-year man out of Florida signed a five-year, $50 million extension, with $22 million guaranteed.

The contract puts Reed in a tie with Jimmy Graham as the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.

Zolalk & Bertrand discussed how the massive Reed deal might impact Rob Gronkowski. Could it fuel any desire for Gronk to look for a new contract?

Zo & Beetle both agreed that it shouldn't, considering his pay isn't too far off from his production. While Gronk isn't the highest paid tight end in the league, he's still up near the top.

Gronk signed a six-year, $54 million contract in 2012.

"He doesn't (believe he is significantly underpaid) either but he wants the recognition and the respect of the position," agreed Zolak.

So what would Gronk even be looking for if he were to hold out for a new contract?

"I don't believe Rob Gronkowski is significantly underpaid," argued Beetle. "Over the next four seasons, is he looking for another 8 million dollars? I don't think that's insane, but I also don't think that's worth holding out over."
