Police Continue Searching Charles River For Missing Harvard Man

BOSTON (CBS) – Dive teams searched the Charles River again in the area of the Zakim Bridge as they looked for a Harvard man who went missing nearly two weeks ago.

Zachary Marr was last seen on February 13 outside the Bell in Hand Tavern near Faneuil Hall.

This week, police have been searching an area of the Charles River near a railroad bridge not far from the Zakim Bridge. Police say surveillance video showed Marr in this area the night he disappeared.

On Wednesday, dive teams returned to that area around 10 a.m. After several hours, the search concluded with no sign of Marr.

Massachusetts State Police said they were focused on an area of the river under the Zakim along with an adjacent elevated railroad track.

Police deployed side scan sonar from a boat. The equipment feeds images of the river bottom back to the boat.

Divers deployed into the water when the scanner detected anything out of the ordinary.

According to State Police, divers inspected several items, but they all turned out to be logs and branches.

The waters being searched are about 25-feet deep.

With Wednesday's search concluded, police say they will return to the area later in the week, though they have not yet determined whether it will be Thursday or Friday.
