Stop And Shop, YMCA Hand Out Turkeys To Dorchester Families In Need

DORCHESTER (CBS) -- Thanksgiving isn't for another week, but some families got their turkeys early.

Continuing a program that started six years ago, Stop and Shop partnered with the YMCA to help those in need. They gave away 250 turkeys with all the fixings on Saturday.

"I just had a fire and I was homeless, so for me and my kids and grand kids this is a great thing," one recipient said.

"What is Thanksgiving if it isn't to be able to help those who need it?" James Morton, president and CEO of YMCA Greater Boston, said.

Leftover turkeys from the day's event will benefit those at the YMCA who need extra help this holiday season.
