Wynn Begins Everett Casino Construction

EVERETT (CBS) -- Crews rolled in Thursday to begin building Wynn Boston Harbor resort casino on the banks of the Mystic River in Everett.

The $2 billion project will sit on 30 acres of land. More than 500 union workers are expected to be working at the site daily, according to Wynn.

Despite previous challenges, developers have obtained the necessary permits to begin building.

Residents in the neighborhood across the street from the work site say they're not concerned by the changes in traffic or noise.

"That don't bother me, I'm 76 years old," said Chuck, who lives close by.

Fenagh Engineering and Testing, the company handling quality control for the materials used to build the construction complex, has also set up across the street to ensure safety.

"Any of the concrete and the steel, the masonry, soil testing, we provide inspectional and testing services," says Fenagh's David Stoffregen. "The engineers and the architects, they design the building and we come in to use their specifications to make sure its all safe and solid."
