Boston Landmarks Lit Up Blue For Autism Awareness Day
BOSTON (CBS) – Several landmarks in Boston were lit up blue Saturday night as a part of a campaign for World Autism Awareness Day.
The Zakim Bridge was illuminated blue as was Fenway Park and dozens of other buildings around the city participating in the worldwide "Light It Up Blue" campaign.

"Autism knows no boundaries," said Angela Geiger, president and CEO of Autism Speaks. "The lights are a symbol of the global autism community as we develop strategies to meet the needs of our loved ones throughout their lives. And because those needs vary from person to person, family to family, and country to country, we need a comprehensive approach involving all the nations of the world."
This is the seventh straight year Fenway Park has participated in the event. Gate A on Yawkey Way was lit up blue.
Also showing support for the cause were the Prudential Tower and Rowes Wharf.
In total, 68 Boston buildings participated in the campaign.
About 11,000 buildings are joining this year's campaign in more than 147 countries to raise global awareness of autism spectrum disorder.
