Worcester Woman Charged With Stabbing Boyfriend To Death

WORCESTER (CBS/AP) — A Worcester woman is facing charges in connection with the stabbing death of her live-in boyfriend.

Stephanie Fernandes, 31, is charged with manslaughter and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death late Wednesday night.

The victim's name was not immediately released.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Lana Jones reports

Police say they responded to the couple's home on Angelo Street at about 11 p.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance.

"Stephanie came over and just was knocking on the door, calling for help. I went over and provided some assistance until emergency services got there," a neighbor said.

Officers found a 31-year-old man unresponsive inside the home suffering from a single stab wound. He was rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just before midnight.

Police say the couple had a "long-term relationship" and that they were arguing before the man was stabbed.

Fernandes is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Worcester County District Court.
