Worcester Police Locate Driver In Fatal Hit And Run

WORCESTER (CBS) – Worcester police used security footage to track down a driver who left the scene of a fatal hit and run on Thursday night.

At about 8 p.m. Thursday police responded to the intersection of Grafton and Wall Streets for a pedestrian hit by a truck.

The 60-year-old Worcester man was transported to UMass Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

When police arrived at the scene, the vehicle involved was not there. Investigators reviewed security video from nearby businesses, and found that a tractor-trailer with a large trash container was involved.

Police were able to make out identifying information on the truck and went to the business. Police located the driver and brought him to police headquarters to speak with investigators.

According to police, the driver is being cooperative and no citations had been issued as of about midnight.
