Amber Alert Cancelled, Worcester Girl And Mother Found

WORCESTER (CBS) – State Police have cancelled an Amber Alert for a little girl from Worcester and her mother.

Leeann Rickheit, 38, and her three-year-old daughter were found early Thursday morning in "a vehicle in a wooded area in Charlton," according to State Police spokesman Dave Procopio.

"The recovery was made after members of the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section developed information indicating that Rickheit frequented the wooded area where she was found," Procopio said in a statement.

"Both are conscious and alert and are being taken to area hospitals for examination."

Rickheit was brought to St. Vincent's Hospital under police guard, while her daughter was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester.

"The exact charges will be finalized as the specific facts and circumstances are determined. The charges will reflect Rickheit's actions in fleeing with the child as well as evidence  observed and recovered during her capture."

Police say the girl was taken from a home on Greenwood Street in Worcester by Rickheit at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Rickheit allegedly made threats to harm the child.
