Woman Heading To Church Struck, Killed In Dedham Crosswalk

DEDHAM (CBS) – A 70-year-old woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Dedham Tuesday morning.

Anne McIntyre of Dedham was crossing High Street in a crosswalk at 7 a.m. when she was hit by the truck driven by a 25-year-old Boston man.

She was rushed to the hospital and later died.

It appears McIntyre was on her way to mass at St. Mary's Church when she was struck, police said.

The driver did stop and immediately called 911. Police said he was emotionally distressed and there are no charges at this point in the investigation.

A fire official told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 solar glare may have been a factor.

"This appears to be a tragic accident, which took the life of a local resident," Dedham Police Chief  Michael d'Entremont said in a statement.
