Man Arrested For Murder Of Girlfriend In Hudson

HUDSON (CBS) – The man who was wanted in the murder of a young woman in Hudson has been arrested. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office said 23-year-old Luis Santos allegedly shot 20-year-old Karla Rodriguez Thursday afternoon.

Santos had been on the run since 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, considered armed and dangerous after investigators say he shot his girlfriend through her car window in front of the apartment building where he lived and she occasionally stayed.

"Ms. Rodriguez and Mr. Santos were returning to a residence on Howe Street in Hudson," Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said. "There appears to have been some kind of disagreement, argument going on and at some point when Ms. Rodriguez was in the car the allegation is that Mr. Santos outside of the car, approached the car, fired through the window of the car, striking Ms. Rodriguez."

Rodriguez died Friday morning from her injuries.

Her friends tell WBZ she was the mother of a baby boy.

Friend Ardealis Decoo said: "I will always remember her as the girl with a heart of gold and a person that helped everyone even with nothing in return and most of all the BEST MOTHER her son can ask for. I remember all she wanted was to do the best she could for her son and give him the world."

Friend Giallyssa May Ortega said: "As soon as [Karla] walked in the room everyone had a smile on their face... I don't see how anyone could ever think to take her life away with all the love and joy she spread to everyone."

Hudson Police say Luis Santos has no prior record with them before this murder and promise that the town is safe now that he is behind bars.

Santos will be in court Monday facing multiple charges including murder.
