Woman Pinned By Truck In Worcester Dies
WORCESTER (CBS/AP) — A woman pinned under the rear wheels of a tractor-trailer in Worcester has died.
Police said 24-year-old Sara Ewing of Hudson and a man were struck by the truck at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday after it turned too sharply, knocked down a light pole, which in turned forced the two pedestrians forward into the path of the vehicle.
The man freed himself but Ewing was pinned.
It took rescue personnel about a half hour to free her. She was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. The man suffered a serious foot injury.
His name has not been released.
Police say the truck pulled over in busy Kelley Square to let a fire truck pass.
It was turning toward the ramp to Interstate 290 but took the turn too tight.
