Woman Hides In Washing Machine After Calling 911 About Alleged Assault

RAYMOND, N.H. (CBS) – A woman who called police about a man allegedly trying to strangle her, hid in a washing machine while she waited for officers to arrive.

Police responded to a Boxwood Lane home Thursday night after getting a call from a woman asking that police come "quick" to the house.

After investigating, police arrested Stephen Tolmie, 50, of Raymond, on assault charges.

Officers determined that the woman was upset Tolmie took her truck and drove it without a valid driver's license.

She said that Tolmie elbowed her in the face and tried to strangle her, police said.

Tolmie was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear at the Candia Circuit Court April 14.
