Woman Charged With Drunk Driving After Crashing Into State Trooper's Cruiser

BOSTON (AP) — A state police trooper was hurt when his stationary cruiser was struck from behind by a woman who has been charged with drunken driving.

A department spokesman says Trooper Mark Lombardi was treated at a hospital and released after being struck at about 10:30 p.m. Monday on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Boston.

His blue lights were on while he protected a maintenance crew performing light pole inspections.

The force of the impact tipped over the woman's SUV.

Police say 45-year-old Ann Lyn King of Worcester faces a number of charges including operating under the influence.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. It's not clear if she has a lawyer.
