Firefighter Injured In Wilmington Recycling Plant Fire

WILMINGTON (CBS) - There's no word yet on what sparked a fire at a recycling plant in Wilmington overnight.

Flames broke out at OPR Systems, Inc., a 76,000 square foot facility, on Andover Street around 1 a.m. The fire department said a 100 foot-by-50-foot pile of bailed paper and cardboard products caught fire.

Firefighters from Wilmington, North Reading, Andover, Tewsksbury, Billerica and Burlington all responded and had the fire out by 3:30 a.m.

One firefighter was treated for a minor injury. The building was damaged, but it's still structurally sound, according to authorities.

The scene was cleared just before 7 a.m. after heavy machinery was brought in to overhaul the pile.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
