Man Wounded In Weymouth Police-Involved Shooting

WEYMOUTH (CBS) ---  Police say a Weymouth man was shot by police after a domestic dispute late Saturday night.

Police responded to a Winter Street address shortly before midnight for a report of an unwanted party. William Sylvester, 35, listed as homeless, had a warrant out for a parole violation and failing to register as a sex offender.

When police arrived, Sylvester was in a bedroom. He allegedly brandished a knife and lunged toward officers. Two officers then allegedly fired at Sylvester, striking him in the lower torso. He was taken to South Shore Hospital with a non-life-threatening wound.

Sylvester is currently under arrest on the parole violation warrant and he is also charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and failure to register as a sex offender. He is being held without bail.
