2 People Hit By Car, Dog Killed In Westford Academy Parking Lot

WESTFORD (CBS) – Two people were hit by a car in the parking lot of Westford Academy Wednesday morning in a crash that also killed a dog.

It happened around 6:15 a.m., before school got underway.

Two women in their 60s were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The dog that was with the women did not survive.

No students were involved. The driver, a man in his 60s, remained on scene.

Westford's superintendent said the driver is a "highly respected" cafeteria employee who was arriving for work. It was dark at the time of the crash.

Massachusetts State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney are investigating the crash.

Police have not filed any charges at this time.
