Wegmans Alerts Customers About Facebook Coupon Scam

BOSTON (CBS) – Wegmans supermarkets want shoppers to know about a scam that's making the rounds on Facebook.

The fraudulent Facebook post shows an image of a Wegmans store with a false claim that the company is giving away a free $200 grocery coupon.

"This giveaway is neither affiliated with nor supported by Wegmans," Jo Natale, Wegmans vice president of media relations, said in a statement Monday.

"We're actively working to have this fraudulent post removed from Facebook. We urge consumers not to click it, share it, or provide any personal information," Natale said.

Wegmans has dozens of stores in the northeast, including Massachusetts.
