Wednesday's Child: 9-Year-Old Farrah

Farrah is a Caucasian 9-year-old girl in need of a patient family prepared to help her transition into their home. Some of Farrah's favorite activities include playing board games like Monopoly, Sorry! and Checkers and going to either indoor or outdoor amusement parks. She also loves to listen to songs from singers like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. Farrah likes eating ice cream, especially during the summer, and her favorite fruits are strawberries and cherries. She is currently learning how to make cookies at her residential placement and is loving the opportunity! Farrah is in the fourth grade and she attends elementary school with some extra support. She is very bright but can need some redirection and benefits from lots of structure. Farrah has shared her favorite subject in school is science.

Legally freed for adoption, Farrah would benefit from a two-parent or single woman family where she is the youngest or only child. Farrah has expressed that her ideal family would be one with a mom and a dad. In the past, Farrah has had difficulty being placed with younger children so children who are younger or close/similar in age would not be the best match. A family who has teenagers, adult aged children or no children would be ideal.

Since its inception in 1981, Wednesday's Child has been a collaboration of the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE), the Department of Children & Families and WBZ-TV/CBS Boston. Hosted by Jack Williams for the last 34 years, this weekly series has given a face and voice to the children who wait the longest for families. Wednesday's Child has helped find homes for hundreds of waiting children and continues to raise awareness about adoption from foster care.
