Wednesday's Child: 4 Year-Old Randy

BOSTON (CBS) - Randy, soon-to-be 4, is a cute, expressive Haitian young boy who has a very loving side to him. He is able to build solid bonds with the people he is with. He likes to cuddle with his foster parents and is very attached to his foster siblings. Randy will spend hours playing in his pretend kitchen and workshop, lending the foster parents to believe that he enjoys working with his hands. He also enjoys listening to music on his headphones, which can help soothe him when he is having a difficult time.

Randy has a history of developmental and speech delays, and has received Early Intervention services. He can become overwhelmed with any change in his routine or structure. Randy needs a tremendous amount of attention from a family willing to manage his sometimes challenging behaviors.

Randy's social worker believes that Randy would do best in an environment in which he were the only child or where the other children were much older. He identifies with women as nurturing caregivers. A family with a strong support system that is open to services and able to meet with service providers on a regular basis would be the best fit for Randy. Randy is legally freed for adoption.

To learn more about Randy, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
