Wednesday's Child: 16-Year-Old Kwin

BOSTON (CBS) --- Kwin is a very pleasant and enjoyable 16-year-old boy of Native American descent who is legally free for adoption. He is eager to interact with children and adults alike, and he especially loves one-on-one attention from adults. Kwin is hoping to find a permanent family in which he can share some of his interests.

Kwin is creative and uses his imagination to create stories and make up rap songs. Kwin enjoys music and theatre, and has participated in several theatrical plays. He also enjoys bowling and likes to travel. Currently, Kwin resides in an intensive foster home where he does well with routine, structure, and consistency. While he can get frustrated at times, he accepts redirection.

Kwin is in the eighth grade and is supported by an Individualized Education Plan. He was recently accepted into a Regional Vocational Technical High School. He has some medical complications which will require ongoing attention, but do not slow him down.

The ideal family for Kwin is a two-parent family of any constellation with no children, or with children who are older than Kwin. A family who is open to birth family contact would be best, as he has extended birth family who are very invested in his success. Kwin needs a family who can provide him with a lot of attention and affection. A family who can balance positive reinforcement with structure and stability would be a wonderful fit for him.

To learn more about Kwin, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
