WBZ Weather Madness; Historic Snow Battle

TGIF everyone. The April Fool's Day blizzard of 1997 won yesterday's contest...so it's on to the next matchup! Who can forget last winter? It was the all-time greatest seasonal snowfall for Boston at an impressive 110.6". The amount of records we broke between the months of January and February are too great to count…it was truly remarkable in every sense of the word.

Until that epic stretch of snow, last winter was relatively tame.  2011 on the other hand started with a bang! An historic nor'easter struck just days before Halloween. Snow fell from West Virginia to Maine caused billions of dollars in damage. While Boston didn't have much snow, just to the west of the city, more than a foot fell in Worcester and nearly 3 FEET in parts of the Berkshires!

So, what is the more memorable event for you? Vote below & we'll share the results on Monday as our WBZ Weather Madness rolls on!

Otherwise, it's a slow climb to reach the lower 60s today, and some communities, especially in northern MA won't do it. The warmer air is struggling to work its way into southern New England. The showers will taper through the early evening and some partial clearing comes in tonight. The weekend is still looking pretty good, although some clouds may be a bit stubborn on both Saturday and Sunday, especially at the coast of New England. That, combined with an onshore wind means cooler temperatures at the shore…in the 40s both weekend days. It will be dry both days though - no problem for the hippity hoppy Easter Bunny :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

See you on WBZ Monday morning -
Danielle
