Water Main Bursts In Woburn, Hyde Park Cause Delays

WOBURN (CBS) -- An overnight water main break caused the closure of some of the northbound lanes of the Route 128 rotary early Tuesday morning.

Check: WBZ Traffic Page

The break happened on Route 38 off of Route 128 near the rotary. Police are asking the public to avoid the area while they repair the water main.

The southbound lanes of the rotary were open, but all but one of the northbound lanes were closed and would likely remain that way throughout the day, police said.

Woburn Police said a concerned citizen reported water bubbling up from the street.

Crews found the water was coming from a large water main that runs under the rotary, and that the break was "significant."

Woburn Police said they would let one lane of traffic by, but drivers should expect delays.

The break would not affect drinking water, authorities said.

There was also a water main break in Hyde Park in Boston Tuesday.
