Waltham Woman, 75, Pinned Beneath Runaway Trailer

WALTHAM (CBS) -- A 75-year-old woman suffered a broken leg after a runaway trailer struck her on the sidewalk in Waltham Thursday morning.

Waltham police said the woman was walking along School Street at about 9 a.m. when the trailer detached from a white box truck and hit her.

Firefighters extracted her from underneath the trailer and she was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the box truck is a 41-year-old Randolph man, and police say he's facing charges over numerous equipment violations on the trailer.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
