Walpole Police Show Support For Boy Named Boston Battling Cancer

WALPOLE (CBS) -- It's a new twist on "Boston Strong."

Walpole police are sending their support to a young boy in Florida named Boston. Boston is 5 years old and being treated for a cancerous tumor in his brain.

When Walpole Det. Timothy Sullivan learned of Boston's illness, he sent him a "Boston Strong" shirt – the rallying cry for the city as it recovered from the Boston Marathon bombings.

"Det, Sullivan obtained this shirt, which is perfect under these unfortunate circumstances, and had it signed by members of the department so as to support Boston in his battle," police said. "Be strong and always keep fighting, Boston!"

The young boy has dreams of being in law enforcement, police said.

Boston's mother posted a photo of her smiling son wearing the shirt police sent.

"We are grateful and honored, among many other things, that they thought of Boston," she wrote. "'From Boston, to Boston.'"
