Wake Held For Plymouth Police Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash

PLYMOUTH (AP) — Hundreds of people have gathered in Plymouth to begin paying final respects to a veteran police officer killed in the line of duty.

A wake for Officer Gregg Maloney was held Monday afternoon and evening at Memorial Hall. Citizens and first responders from around the region joined in supporting Maloney's family and friends.

Uniformed officers marched in Maloney's honor, led by police bagpipers, while others covered for their Plymouth colleagues. Police Chief Michael Botieri said they are grateful for the support.

The 43-year-old Maloney died in an on-duty motorcycle accident on April 1. The cause remains under investigation, but authorities have said no other vehicles were involved.

The 17-year veteran was married with two teenage sons.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday morning at St. Peter Church.
