Video Of 2013 Search Of Aaron Hernandez's Home Shown In Court

FALL RIVER (CBS) -- Home surveillance footage from inside former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's house as police executed a search warrant last year was shown in court Wednesday.

Hernandez is charged with the 2013 murder of his former friend and semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.

He has pleaded not guilty.

In the video from June 18, 2013, Hernandez is shown reclining on a couch with his baby daughter as police enter his home in North Attleboro.

A state police detective took the stand Wednesday as a judge decides whether Hernandez' cell phone should be thrown out as evidence.

Defense attorneys for Hernandez say police did not have a warrant to take his cell phone after his arrest last year.

On Wednesday, prosecutors used the video to create a timeline of what happened before police got a hold of Hernandez's cell phone.

Investigators testified that a meeting was arranged with Hernandez's lawyer to pick up the phone in downtown Boston. A Massachusetts State Police trooper said that the phone was handed to him in a manila envelope in three pieces.

"I asked [the lawyer] why it was broken down, he said 'Well that's the way it was given to me,'" the trooper testified. "He stated Aaron Hernandez had given it to him this way."

An attorney for Hernandez also took the stand and testified that a request was made to surrender the phone, but he told the assistant district attorney that there would be no voluntary production of the phone unless a warrant was secured.
