Video Captures 12-Foot Shark Swimming Off Chatham Coast

CHATHAM (CBS) – Researchers have released underwater video footage of a 12-foot white shark swimming off the coast of Chatham.

Researchers from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy spotted this untagged shark and one other nearby on Friday.

The shark was the same one the team spotted on July 6 eating a seal off Chatham, according to the Conservancy.

The second shark, not seen in the video, was spotted one mile off the north cut, is projected to be about 9 feet long.

Neither of the sharks were tagged on Friday.

Last week, the first great white shark of the year was tagged off the coast of Cape Cod. The shark was named Avery.

A total of 18 white sharks were tagged by researchers last summer.
