Victims Of Chicopee Fire Identified As Mother, Son

CHICOPEE, Mass. (AP) — The victims of a weekend fire in Chicopee have been identified as an 87-year-old woman and her 60-year-old son.

Police on Monday identified the victims of the Sunday morning fire as Brigette Niebergail and Mark Boucher.

Family members confirmed that the victims were mother and son. They say a family dog also perished.

Firefighters responding to a call at 7:43 a.m. Sunday found the ranch-style, single-family house on Montcalm Street already fully engulfed in flames.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan says three residents escaped, but two were trapped and died.

The cause remains under investigation.
