Veteran Kayaking From Maine To Florida To Raise Money To Prevent Suicide

SALISBURY (CBS) - A disabled veteran is on a journey of hope that will take him down the east coast in a kayak.

On Wednesday, his mission brought him to Salisbury.

Joseph Mullin suffers from post traumatic stress disorder.

But that's not stopping him from kayaking 2,000 miles from Maine to Key West, Florida.

Mullin wants more people to know that 22 vets a day commit suicide.

"One hundred percent of the funds go to the vets and they're using a more holistic approach to curing PTSD than a pharmaceutical approach, which I like," said Mullin.

He hopes the money he raises for Mission 22 saves lives.

Mullin is an experienced kayaker who tries to do about 40 nautical miles a day.
