Photo Of Woman Who Hunted Record-Setting Moose Sparks Heated Debate

NORTON, Vt. (CBS) - -The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is congratulating a woman who hunted a record-setting moose, but not everyone is applauding.

A photo of a smiling Tammy Miller posing with the dead moose has been shared more than 1,000 times from the department's Facebook page.

Miller, of Fairfax, Vermont, set a new archery season state record by bringing down the 931-pound moose.

"Poor moose. He did nothing to deserve this," one person comments.

But Miller has plenty of people supporting her, as well.

"Outstanding! Way to show everyone how a woman can hunt! Great bow too," reads another comment.

The department is asking commenters to stop the name-calling.

"We ask those who disagree with Jennifer to remain respectful," the department wrote. "There's nothing wrong with a healthy discussion on the ethics of hunting and a diversity of opinions on the subject."
