United Airlines Flights Grounded Briefly By Computer Problem
BOSTON (CBS) - All United Airlines flights nationwide were grounded for about an hour Wednesday because of computer problems.

Travelers started tweeting about the issue just before 9 a.m. The FAA later confirmed the flights were halted due to "automation issues" after what the FAA refers to as a ground stop.
"We came here from Stonington, Connecticut two hours early so we'd be here on time. We got here and everything was shut down," passenger Zavnet Schaeffer told WBZ-TV's Beth Germano.

Passengers were finally allowed to board their planes around 9:40 a.m.
United finally tweeted a statement at 9:43 a.m. saying:
"We experienced a network connectivity issue. We are working to resolve and apologize for any inconvenience."

There's no word yet on what caused the glitch.
A total of 3,500 flights nationwide were impacted by the issue.

This is the second time in two months that United flights were delayed because of computer problems.
"We had no idea what was happening," said Melinda Thomas, a student ambassador trying to get to Portugal.
