UNH Police Increasing Campus Patrols After Woman Allegedly Assaulted

DURHAM, N.H. (CBS) – University of New Hampshire police are increasing patrols after a woman said she was assaulted over the weekend.

Police sent an alert to students about an incident they said happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 20, on a path between Hubbard Hall and Christensen Hall.

According to police, a woman was walking in the area when she was grabbed around the waist by a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The woman escaped the man's grasp, but he grabbed her again, police said.

After the man grabbed her a second time, the woman yelled for help. Several people came to the area, at which point police said the suspect ran away.

"University Police Officers, as well as Campus Service Officers, will be increasing their patrols of the areas, and will answer any safety concerns you might have, including providing safety escorts throughout our Community," police posted on their Facebook page.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the UNH Police Department at (603) 862-1427.

In August a UNH student told police three men pulled up to her in a car and allegedly tried to get her into their trunk. The suspects drove away when friends of the woman came to the area, UNH police said at the time.
