UMass Boston To Offer Student Housing In 2018

BOSTON -- UMass Boston plans to open student housing for the first time, the university's president Marty Meehan announced Thursday.

The student housing complex will accommodate 1,000 freshmen and transfer students. Its opening is set for September 2018.

"UMass Boston is the most diverse campus of its size in New England, and we know there is a direct connection between on-campus housing and academic success," Meehan said.

The university has contracted with Capstone Development to build the facility, which will be paid for using both private and public funds.
