Pilot Survives Ultralight Plane Crash In Assabet River

STOW (CBS) – An ultralight plane crashed in the Assabet River in Stow Tuesday morning.

Witnesses say the plane attempted to take off from Crowe Island airfield around 9a.m. when it nosedived into the water.

The pilot, only identified by authorities as a 55-year-old man, was able to escape the crash and was found near the shoreline.

He was taken to Lahey Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

No one else was on board.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
