Security To Be Increased At Airports Across U.S.

BOSTON (CBS) - Airports across the U.S. will soon see increased security in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Belgium.

Travelers can expect to see more police, increased random checks of cars and large bags, and additional bomb sniffing dogs before passengers pass through security checkpoints.

Checks will increase beyond check points as well.

Airline and airport employees will also experience heightened scrutiny.

"There's always a possibility for an inspired individual or a cell that we don't know about to do some harm. Which is why it goes back to the visible presence and the layers of security so you can deter, detect, and hopefully, disrupt," TSA Administrator Peter Neffinger said.

Next week, roughly 300 airports will submit vulnerability reports to the TSA.

The Massachusetts Port Authority released a statement saying that security at Logan Airport has been heightened since the Brussels attacks.
