Two Dead Following Crashes In Walpole And Sterling

WALPOLE (CBS) – A Rehoboth man was killed late Saturday night following a rollover crash on Interstate 95 in Walpole, while a Leominster woman died earlier in the evening during a separate crash in Sterling.

Massachusetts State Police responded Friday at about 10:40 p.m. to I-95 in Walpole, where they found a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta that had driven off the roadway and onto the median where the car hit a tree.

The driver of the car, 55-year-old Martin Vaslet of Rehoboth, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier Saturday night at about 8 p.m., a separate crash on Interstate 190 in Sterling killed a 41-year-old Leominster woman.

Police said the driver of a 2006 Infiniti sedan lost control and hit the guardrail, coming to rest in the travel lane. After the initial crash, two other vehicles then hit the Infiniti.

The driver of the Infiniti was killed, though police have not yet released the identify of the Leominster woman.

Both fatal crashes remain under investigation by Massachusetts State Police.
