Turtle Stolen From Children's Room At Fall River Library

FALL RIVER (CBS) --- Police are looking for a man they believe stole the Fall River Public Library's turtle mascot.

Police say this man hid in the library after closing time and stole Franklin. (Fall River Police)

Franklin the turtle was stolen from his terrarium in the children's room, Saturday night.

According to Fall River Police, a man hid in the library just before closing time. Surveillance footage then caught the man stealing the turtle. Fall River Police say the turtle is worth about $80.

The box turtle has lived in the library for 13 years and is a familiar friend to many of the children who visit the library, according to the library's Facebook page.

The library is now hoping someone may have some information about where Franklin is. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fall River Police Department.
