TSA Seeks Homes For Dogs That Failed Explosives Training

SAN ANTONIO (CBS) -- They may not be qualified to sniff out explosives, but these dogs could still make great companions.

The TSA is trying to find homes for explosive detection dogs that are either retired or didn't pass the training program.

"Some are well trained, others are not," the TSA said. "Canines which were eliminated from the program typically have received some explosives detection training."

The available dogs are very active and not used to living in a home. They are anywhere from 2 to 10 years old and breeds include German Short-Haired Pointers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois.

There's no fee to adopt a TSA canine, but anyone interested must be willing to travel to Texas and bring the dog home.
